In the midst of the heavy rain ...

After 3 months drought, it finally rained yesterday. The heavy downpour was much awaited by many, not only us human but also the plants and animals. My cats and dogs were smiling from ear to ear before they curled up in tight-ball positions for their afternoon nap. Hehe..just joking! They didn’t smile la but I’m sure they were happy too..hahaha… Oh, I was on leave yesterday, that’s how I got to witness their happy faces. :)

I took the leave to bring Mom to Klinik Kesihatan Luyang (KKL) for her eye-checking. :) No need to go to QEH anymore. No complaining about the bad service in KKL...hehe. The whole process was super-quick. From registration to consultation, it only took us 2 hours. The waiting area was quite comfortable and there were not many patients around. Even Vanessa was very cooperative that day. She happily belted out a few of her favourite nursery rhymes while waiting for her grandma. :) Free entertainment for the people in the waiting area. The only bad thing I have to say is the insufficient parking space in KKL.

For those who had been there knows exactly how difficult it was to get a parking space in KKL compound. I think I saw a sign that says only Lot 1 to Lot 10 is for public use. The rest are for staffs. The parking lots for public are always occupied. If you found one vacant, it must be your lucky day! Hmm…apparently yesterday was not my luck day; I had to look for a parking space at the nearby Heritage Plaza shoplot which is on the opposite side of the road.

After dropping off my Mom and Vanessa (yup, my little girl tagged along too), I went to park my car there. Good thing that there were plenty of parking spaces available. Having parked there, I had to cross the road and walk a good 100m to KKL. Well, it’s not that far but the heavy rain and the traffic made it difficult. The rain had created ankle-high puddles of water along the road. Each time a car drive by, the water will splash on some poor pedestrian. In this case, that poor pedestrian was me. Some considerate drivers slowed down their car when they drove pass but some didn’t bother. Or was it because of the rain that they couldn’t see someone with an umbrella walking at the road side??? *sigh* By the time I reach KKL, my jeans was soaked up to the thigh.

It was still raining when everything was done with Mom’s check-up though not as heavy as it was earlier. As I need to get the car, I had asked Mom and Vanessa to wait outside the Klinik. “Mau ikut mummy bah. (I want to follow mummy.)” I almost fainted when Vanessa said that. It was not easy to walk with one hand holding an umbrella while carrying a 13kg toddler on one hip. After some reasoning and persuasion, to my relief, Vanessa cancelled her demand and waited with Mom while I went to get the car. Phew!

When your 2-year old toddler crave for something…

… it will be anything but a pretty scene! You had better prepare yourself with your child’s temper tantrum. Last Saturday, I had the chance to experienced the worst (so far) of Vanessa’s “terrible twos” moment. *sigh*

Vanessa demanded to have rambutans. And she wanted it pronto! Luckily, there were still a few rambutans left on our tree but it was scattered here and there. Susah juga la bah mau jolok. As hubby was out during that time, the Kakak had to struggle with the bamboo stick to pluck the rambutan. In the meantime, mom and I were trying our best to calm Vanessa. We tried to divert her attention by offering her to watch her favourite nursery rhymes sing-along VCD; offered her favourite Vitagen drinks etc, etc. Obviously, all the tactics didn’t work! She was crying on top of her lung, instead! :)

Nonetheless, the Kakak managed to get 5 rambutans. We quickly peeled the skin, separated the flesh from its seeds and fed the little monster. Whoa, the little monster finished all 5 in just a minute! Wiped clean her bowl…and….guess what? She wanted more! And she wants it “now”!!! *faint* Convincing her to wait again was even harder. Aduiii...

Fortunately, hubby came home just in time. Pheww! When he saw and heard all the drama, he didn’t bother to step inside the house, but went straight to climb the rambutan tree and pluck whatever was remaining. He came back with two handfuls. Vanessa had two more then her craving was satisfied. *relief*

Nasib baik, our rambutan tree masih ada buah (itupun over ripe suda…hehe..). Otherwise, I don’t know if the Little Big Boss can wait for us to drive to Donggongon town to buy her rambutans. As the rambutan season is coming to its end, there was no more rambutan left on the neighbours’ tree. Tiada lagi tempat terdekat untuk membeli… *sigh* I just hope that she will not crave for the fruit when the season is over. Kalau suda limpas musim dia, mana lagi mau cari…. LOL…

Okay, all of you parents who had experience your kids’ “terrible two” moment, mind to share your story with first-time mom like me? I sure would like to learn how your guys handled the situation…hehe…

Can’t sleep without them…sleeping buddies

People! Meet Vanessa’s sleeping buddies – Dora the Explorer, Tweety Bird, Buttercup, Teddy Bear and Kiko the Harp Seal…. :) Every night, ALL her buddies must join her in bed…satu tertinggal pun tida bulih kunun. *sigh* Nasib baiklah, she relent to taking only Dora and Kiko along every time we go back to Po-po and Ye-ye’s place. Otherwise, not enough room in my Kancil. *smile*

The gang sitting on the sofa.

Every night, before I tuck-in the little princess, I will arrange her buddies at the bedside. Her courageous buddies will protect her from the scary labah-labah hitam (black spider) or the kuda hitam (black pony). *smile* Hmm, since Dora is her favourite buddy, she’ll get special treatment. Dora gets to sleep near the little master. *smile* If she’s lucky, she’ll survive the night in that position. If not, she’ll end up on the floor in the morning...kana sepak oleh si tuan kecil…LOL.

Hehe…I bet your kids got their sleeping buddies or comfort toys or anything that they just can't sleep without, right? When I was a kid myself, I used to have a favourite blanket. Every time I go to my cuz for a sleep-over, I'll bring it along…hahahha…

Okay, about that kuda hitam that Vanessa feared so much. It’s not a real pony, mind you. Hehe…it is only a rubber pony that belongs to her cuz! Once upon a time si kuda hitam looks cute and colorful, something like this pic, but now…its colour has transformed into black with “panau” (wear and tear la) here and there…hahahaa….

An optical illusion? NOT.

Being a bespectacled mom to a toddler is never an easy task. My old pair of glasses was battered with multiple scratches, not to mention it arms were repeatedly spread opened by force by my curious little monster. I bet the poor thing will want to scream out it’s agony at the abuse…hehe…

One day, I decided to resign my old glasses since it was too battered to be fixed. You may call me a stingy person but prescribed glasses are quite expensive these days. Hmm, I guess, I am not the only one who would utilize their eyeglasses to its full extent. Wear it until it is worn-out and could no longer serve the purpose as an aid to our eyesight. LOL.

Anyway, even at discounted price, my new pair of glasses still cost me RM380 (that’s about $100)! For me, that price is not cheap. If only I came to know that we can actually buy prescribed glasses online, it could have save me a lot. $8 Rx eyeglasses ??? I almost cried when I saw the price. And that’s not all. When I saw the wide choices of frames, shapes, and colours available, I wanted to cry out even louder! Whuaaa…. With their low price, I think I can afford to own multiple pair of glasses. It would be fun to wear different ones everyday. Now, these are my favorite high fashion eyeglasses . Believe me; it’s not easy for me to make up my mind. *grin*

I'm crazy about half-rim frames! :)

You may think that this is too good to be true. But, this amazing online optical store is for real. But if you still have any doubts, perhaps you should read How You Can Start Spending Smart . *smile*

Sleepy...

That’s what I’m feeling now. Monday is supposed to be a busy day but not today. Well, at least for me la. I am bored. Nothing to do in the office. While colleagues in PJ are enjoying their replacement holiday for Thaipusam, here in Sabah, it’s working like usual. No half day for Chap Go Meh either. But strange, even with so much free time…I’m not in the mood to blog-hop. So, to prevent me from dozing-off to la-la land, I typed this quikie post. * wink*

How’s your weekend? Mine was fine. On Saturday, I went to our ex-3B1 reunion. * sigh* Looks like I have to re-schedule the post to tomorrow. Actually, I already finished typing it but darn, I forgot to download the pic from camera. Cis! Hmm…tida syiok bah bercerita teda gambar ni…felt like lost saja. Hehe…picture says a thousand words bah urang bilang.

Yesterday, I took mom to visit my Aunty house in Kg. Maang. It’s been a while since the two sisters met each other. Bila suda berjumpa, banyak la story mo share…..Spent 3 hours there but it felt like only a few minutes. I had an enjoyable time too, chatting with cousins like nobody’s business. Even daughter had great time…bonding with her cousins

Notice the little copycat, trying to imitate her cuz,Terry's action. :)

P/s: Happy Chap Go Meh to all !

Climbing capers

Since daughter Vanessa was able to walk around and climb 4 months ago, nothing seems safe anymore. As soon a she become mobile, we tucked away all those fragile and dangerous items onto the high shelves and drawers. But now, the things in the drawers are not so safe anymore. We have to chalk the edges so that it won't opened easily when pulled.

My little sumandak

She has not developed stacking skills yet, now can only stand on tip-toe. I know it just a matter of time for her to discover that skill. * sigh* Daughter also loves climbing the sofa. Mom came up with the idea of tying down the sofa cushions to prevent them from falling when pulled. So far, this trick works. Thanks mom for the idea! *hug *

Hmm… since hubby attached a latch (or rather a hook) on the doors, daughter lost her interest in the shoes cabinet..hehe. Before it was latched, she threw all the contents on the floor. Her grandma was so tired of her antic that one day she just let it be. When I came home from work, I almost fainted looking at the mess…Aduss! * a slap on the forehead *

Now her interest has shifted to the house phone. She’ll try to grab the handset at every chance she had. But she won’t utter a sound if you talk to her on the phone. Hmm…it’s time to drill some holes on the wall again, and make a shelf. Year end project for hubby… :p

I’m trying to teach daughter to feed herself. Sure, it’s a messy activity but it’s just something that we, the parents have to grin (or perhaps, grimace) and bear. Just hope for the best. Thank God I got an Indonesia maid now. Mom won’t be that tired looking after Vanessa. I have also started potty training for daughter. She was all hairan when sat on the potty aka tampui yesterday. Haha…can’t wait to see her progress.
