Christmas is over. But many of us are still in holiday mood. Still longing to stay at home or doing activities with our loved ones, no? *sigh* Physically, I am back in the office since yesterday, but my mind is somewhere else…hahaha…Good thing that I have a handful of work to be done. That will keep me occupied. When we are excitedly anticipating for something, in this case, the New Year holiday; the time just seem to pass at a snail’s pace…LOL
At first, I meant to post about my Christmas celebration but since I haven’t downloaded the photos from my camera, I’ll post about it some other time. It will be more interesting with pictures. :)
Anyway, did you get the gift that you wish for? I hope you did. As for me, being a grown-up and a mother, I don’t really expect to receive gifts anymore. Well, except from hubby..hehe…Talking about wish and gift, my SIL is probably the happiest person in the world. She finally got what she wishes for – her own Notebook! She has been longing for one since months ago. Never failed to remind MIL about it..hehe.. Well, a notebook is not cheap, so I know; MIL had been asking her to be patient all these while. But since SIL is taking the IT subject next year, and having her own Notebook will help her a lot, MIL has no more reason to procrastinate. :) Eventually, before Christmas, hubby and siblings decided to chip in some money and voila! SIL wish was granted. She is now the proud owner of this HP Compaq Notebook!

*Pardon the poor quality of the photo, ya. I snapped it with my handphone camera. :)
When she saw it for the first time, she was beaming from ear to ear, eyes sparkling with excitement. I was surprised that she didn’t jump up and down…hahaha…Anyway, I am happy for her. Hopefully, she will take good care of the machine and excel in her SPM next year. Hmm…suddenly I want to buy one for myself also…hahhaha…

Yay…4 more days to go and it’s Christmas! I think I’m done with my Christmas shopping. Got everyone on the list their gift ready. Only a few more left to wrap and it’s off they go to sit under the Christmas tree. :)
Vanessa’s was so excited to wear her new top and skirt. The first time she tried them on; she was already smitten with them. She refused to take them off. Pphew…after much negotiation she finally agreed to take them off and have them washed. Speaking of new clothing…I just realize that I have forgotten to buy one for myself! Even hubby has his shirt ready awal-awal lagi. Normally, it was him who’d look for his shirt at the last minute. ....
Gee, looks like I am not done with Christmas shopping after all ..need to do a very last minute shopping ni… What about you people? Everything ready? ;)

Still looking for ideas on what to give your wife, girlfriend, mom, daughter, sister, nieces for Christmas this year? Why not present something simple, practical and long-lasting, like a bath robe? :)
I came across this amazing online store, Posylane.com that sells a wide selection of women bathrobes. They also offer gifts-personalizing service. You can ask them to personalize your gifts by embroidering or monogramming the recipient’s name or initials on it. Your gift will sure be a well-remembered one! :)
Here’s a peek at what they have in store. If you are looking for a bathrobe that is thick and warm, you should go for the terry bath robe. It is made of 100% cotton, triple sheared, terry cotton velour fabric. On the other hand, if you are thinking of lighter bathrobe, then the waffle bath robe may suits your need. It is made of 60% cotton/40% polyester woven waffle weave fabric. Best known for its high-absorbency, quick-dry characteristics making them widely-used in spas.
Whichever you choose, both have similar features : ¾ length sleeves, mid-calf length, two patch pockets, double belt loops and a matching belt.
Okay, if bath robe is not exactly what you’re looking for, you may find a perfect catch in one of the Mint
bath wrap they have. These bath towel wrap are softer than terry cloth, won’t pull and guaranteed not to slip! Cheers to the last criteria!

“What are the things to prepare for the baby?”, “What kind of baby care product you use?”, “What kind of diaper you use?”, etc, etc. These are some frequently asked questions I get from friends who are on their way to become a mother themselves. Well, being a mother of one daughter does not make me an expert but I’ve been there, done that. So, I am qualified to share some info and tips with them, right? Hmm, how fast the time goes by; 2 years ago I was the one who’s asking the same questions to experienced-mommy friends. :)
Okay, as a first time mom-to-be, it is perfectly normal to have the nervous and/or anxiety bugs in your system. Before your baby comes, you don’t exactly know what to do. Therefore, it is wise to have a checklist on hand before your little one’s arrival. In your baby checklist , you should list down all the essential things you need for your new bundle of joy. This should help you get thing organized and ensure none of the necessities are left out. What serves better memory-aid than a comprehensive baby checklist? :)
Now that you are ready with your newborn checklist, future mommy and daddy are ready to go shopping. Don’t feel silly bringing along your checklist! It is an absolutely normal thing to do. Beware! Baby items are simply irresistible! LOL. As soon as you set an eye on those cute, colorful items, you will want to buy them all. Trust me, the temptations are overwhelming! By having a checklist, you will be able to distinguish the necessities from the conveniences, making sure that you stay in focus. There you go another excellent point to have a baby checklist. :)
Hahaha…I recalled my own experience where hubby and I were so eager to shop for our baby. We were advised by other parents to only start shopping on the 28th week onwards. I’m not quite sure why though. Perhaps it is one of the many superstitious beliefs (pantang-larang). But logically thinking, I guess it has something to do with the baby’s sex/gender. At 28th week scan; the doctor should be able to confirm the baby’s sex. You don’t want to buy all baby boys’ clothes only to have a baby girl instead, right? Nevertheless, the wait was totally tormenting! Argh!!! I'd tried my best to restrain myself from going into the baby section. But once or twice, I succumbed to the temptations. Hahahaha..it is just too much to bear!
Okay, ever heard of baby shower? Well, baby shower is a popular tradition in the West. It is a party held to celebrate the future birth of a child. Would-be parents will invite family members, relatives and friends to the party where they will receive gifts for their newborn or expected child. The popular gifts are baby clothing, baby care product, pram / stroller etc. Sounds like fun? Yup, you bet. It is always fun getting free gifts! LOL.
Unfortunately, baby shower is not a common practice in Asia, Sabah especially. Hmm, I didn’t hold one for my daughter and I certainly don’t remember attending any of relatives’ or friends’ baby showers. However, I did get a few gifts from my then boss and colleagues after daughter were 5 days old. Does that count as baby shower? :)
Anyway, hubby and I were very grateful for all the gifts that we received. It helped us with the extra expenses. Among the lovely gifts that we received were baby clothes, a complete baby bedding set (crib sheet, crib bumper, comforter and crib blankets), baby basket, 2 dozens cloth diapers, a stroller, and my favourite gift was - a pink scrapbook, to record the special moments of our daughter, Vanessa from the day she was born until her 5th birthday.

Happy belated Mother's Day to all the wonderful mommy out there. :) Among the SMS I received from friends and family whishing a happy Mother’s Day yesterday, this one was my favourite. “Motherhood is a tough 24-hours job with no pay, no day-off, most often unappreciated and yet resignation is impossible!” It came from a dear friend, who is on her way to becoming a first time mother herself. Their bundle of joy is due anytime now. *smile*
I couldn’t agree more on the message, especially on the ‘unappreciated’ part. No, I am not talking on my own account as a mother but rather as a daughter. I remembered those days, when I was a teenager growing up. Let’s just say that I am a little bit on the rebellious side. I don’t like to be controlled, often do whatever mom’s said not to do…but nothing serious :). Some of mom’s advice was never taken seriously, you know like masuk telinga kiri, keluar telinga kanan (in through the left ear, out through the right)...hehe.
Anyway, this year I gave mommy dearest a home made butter cake. Baked by none other than her rebellious daughter - ME. Mom’s love cakes, any cakes without chocolate and cheese will do. As I am only a beginner in baking, I decided to bake the easiest one, not too much ingredients involved...hehe. The cake came out fine and edible. Usually, I would leave the cake plain but yesterday, I experimented with vanilla-flavoured butter cream. I was going to decorate it too but daughter was whining for me to carry her. Hmm, the cream was okay but the presentation…well, it didn’t turn-out too well. Hahaha…am too embarrassed to snap and post a pic here…..bikin malu saja! Maybe next time la when my skills improve…LOL! Anyway, mom didn’t complained. :)
With Mother’s Day over, Father’s Day is coming soon. My father had passed away 14 years ago, so there is no other gift more meaningful than a prayer, a visit to his grave and some flowers. * smile*
On the other hand, I am thinking of giving hubby a new perfume for Father’s Day. Something light, fresh with aquatic notes that’s perfect for casual wear. Maybe one of those
Giorgio Armani perfumes may suits his taste. *wink*

As expected, the power cut-off happened again. Luckily, it happened during lunch time. Therefore, I don’t have to go through another free sauna session…hehe…
Instead of having lunch at the coffee shop downstairs like usual, I braved the scorching midday sun. Having the same food, same taste for a week straight will sure make anyone sick, no matter how good it taste. Since it is the only kedai makan in my office area and I was discouraged by the blazing sun, I forced myself to consumed the same food! Sedih oh kan?! :)
Hmmm, how good it is if I could go home and enjoys mom’s cooking. Doesn’t matter la if lunch means steamed, plain white rice with kangkung belacan and salted fish and a pinch of nonsom (pickled) bambangan *drool*. Don’t know about you, but I certainly, don’t mind having these dishes for my daily meals. * smile*
Hey,
Mother's Day is Coming Up! If you are still looking for ideas on the perfect gift for your mom, you are not alone…:). Hopefully, we’ll found the right gift before that special day. *wink*
