My nose not original???

I was not feeling hungry at all during lunch hour. Must be due to heavy breakfast (fried mee + fish cake + a mug of soya bean milk) I had in the morning. So I made use of my lunch hour to get my hair washed at my favourite salon. :)

I picked up an old issue of Media Hiburan while enjoying the massage on my scalp. It’s been such a long time since I last bought an issue of this magazine…macam 5 thn suda bah…hehehe… As I flipped through the pages, a local actress’s confession on her use of collagen injection caught my interest. Her confession was full of regrets, bla, bla, bla…

Somehow, her story triggered something on my mind. NO! I am NOT thinking of one, okay. I prefer to grow old gracefully…hehe..bulih ka ini macam? Anyway, few months ago, I went to have a facial session at a beauty centre on a friend’s recommendation. The beautician was a middle-aged, talkative aunty. Lucky she had her mouth covered; otherwise all her tempias would have landed on my face. :) As she was cleaning/massaging my face, suddenly she popped a question that simply caught me off guard.

Aunty aka Beautician : “Kau punya hidung ni bah, original ka ni moi?” (Your nose, is it original?)”

Me : “ Huh? Apa, aunty?” ( Huh? What, aunty?)

Aunty : : “Kau punya hidung. Original ka?” She re-iterates her question.

Me : “Ya, original. Kenapa aunty?” (Yes. Why?)

Aunty : “Baguslah begitu. Bukan apa, sekarang ni ramai betul bah orang kasi suntik macam-macam untuk kasi tinggi hidung. Mau tambah cantik kunun.” (That’s good. These days many ppl like to inject all sort of thing to get a higher nose bridge. To be more beautiful.)

After that, she went on talking about the negative effect of collagen injection, botox injection, plastic surgeries etc, etc…I tried to entertain her setakat yang terdaya. Though, most of the time only these words came out of my mouth, ‘ya’; ‘ tidak’; ‘oh”; "bah". * grin*

Well, some women are really into hormone injection to enhance their look. Probably because it is cheaper than plastic surgery and easily accessible. As beauty depends on the eyes of the beholder. These women may find themselves beautiful in their more enhanced feature but others may have different opinions. The new feature may look odd and unnatural on their face. Apa-apa pun, semuanya bergantung pada tuan punya badan kan?

So, do I really have a pretty nose? No. Hidung mancung bak seludang? Jauh sekali…But just a little bit above of what my mom’s described as ‘todung napadsakan do kalabau (hidung yang kana pijak kerbau / nose stepped on by a buffalo)” ..LOL. No matter how 'high' or not our nose is, we should be thankful for what God have given. Amen.

No water...

That’s what we are experiencing in my kampung now. The water supply was stopped on purpose because of a burst in one of the main pipe near the roadside.

This is the second incident since last Sunday. First, the burst was at a different section, now another section pulak. The whole kampung will end up with no tap water for at least 12 hours. Hopefully, everybody are better prepared this time, unlike the first incident, where we were caught off-guard and did not manage to save any water. The big pail of water we saved for emergency consumption almost insufficient. Nasib baiklah we have the two drums full of rain water. Normally, mom use it to water her plants, tapi time-time darurat, guna saja la especially in the toilet department..hehehe

The first section.
The second section.

You see, not everybody in my kampung has a water storage tank ready, so when an unexpected incident like this happen, you can imagine betapa sengsaranya tiada air paip. Definitely have to invest on one the soonest possible. Mana la tau, another different section may burst again in the near future. Al maklum sajalah paip-paip kerajaan ni kebanyakkannya suda tua dan berkarat. IF there is any plan to replace it, I am not aware of it. :)

Hmm, I just hope that the aunty whose house is located on a hilltop has managed to save some water. Just 2 days ago, she was complaining that after the burst was repaired, the water pressure is not strong enough to go up there. She and her family have to fetch a few gallons of water from the nearby river. Well, it’s a big river, plenty of water for everyone but the water quality? Not fit. Even for bathing purpose. In a hot day afternoon, a herd of kerbaus can be found soaking in it. And God knows what else are there beneath the murky water. Some ppl claim to have seen crocodile in that river and even caught baby crocodile in their fish trap. Yikes!

Cherishing the moment

The holidays are over. But why oh why am I still in holiday mood? Somehow, I got a feeling that I am not the only one. LOL.

I’ve cleaned up my desk, my In and Out tray, filed some loose documents into its files, etc. Now, I don’t have anything to do in the office. Most of my Muslim colleagues and superiors will only be in next Monday. So, it is so peaceful and quite in the office. I am sooo enjoying this rare blissful moment. Even the phone is extremely quiet, adding to the tranquility. It has been that way since yesterday and hopefully, it’ll stay like that until tomorrow evening…*fingers crossed* … hahahaa…..

Since the line is all clear. I grabbed the chance to browse for a new layout. I found a few but am still considering which one I prefer the most. *smile* Okay, I may have abused the office hours and the internet facility, but what am I suppose to do to kill off some time? Hehe…my boss better not find out about this or else I might end up kena goreng sotong and be part of the country’s jobless statistic! *wink*

Weekend chronicles : The rain, the machine and the candle-lit dinner

Hmm..rainy season in KK. Flashfloods in many parts of KK. Flood up to one feet deep in several areas according to the Daily Express today. Just as hubby, mom, daughter and maid were recovering from the flu and sore-throat bugs, my suffering has just started. Woke-up this morning with a sore throat :( . As much as I hated the sore throat, I hated the cough even more! Don’t you just hate it, when you’re in the middle of a conversation, your throat started to get itchy and a few cough will surely follow. Cis…bikin malu saja!

It’s been raining on and off since Friday evening. So, no jalan-jalan last weekend. Better spend quality time with family at home…keeping daughter accompany while watching Hi-5 on the telly. She’s very fond of the songs. It’s so entertaining to watch her attempt at imitating the action and do her own version of the songs :)

With rain everyday, it is impossible to dry the clothes. All the lines were fully occupied! To make thing worse, my 5-year old Faber washing machine broke-down pulak for the second time. * sigh * Eventually, all the clothes have to be hand-washed. Thank God I have a maid to help do the washing. But having a washing machine does save a lot of time.

The problem with dear ol’ machine is, it refused to discharge the water. Dealt with the same “illness” a year and a half ago. Already contacted the Faber technician, he said that the motherboard was faulty, so need to be replaced. I nearly fainted when he said, “ Your machine is old model. Spare part may be discontinued and no longer available! Have to buy new machine la. *chuckle* " Aiyo…pengsan la like that, this month-end Chinese New Year , have to chip-in some $$$ to in-laws for the family gathering. Not to mention the need to allocate some for ang pow to nephews and nieces some more...

I was so relief this morning when he called that the part is still available. He’ll fix the problem as soon as he receive the part…..Pheww!!

Last night, the whole family had a candle-lit dinner at our home sweet home. Thanks to the heavy downpour, the whole area experienced a blackout…which is often the case every time it rained heavily. Hubby was in a mood to cook his fav, sweet and sour pork. Luckily, he managed to finish with the cooking just before the everything goes pitch black. Hahaha…

So that’s how my weekend goes. :) Today another new week begin…

Life..hocus-pocus

One fine afternoon, a stranger walked straight into our office. Didn’t even bother to knock! Nevertheless, this middle-aged guy seems like a respectable man. His bearded face was all-smile, clad in all white clothes, except for his turban. He’s a Punjabi.

As usual, my desk will be the first to be approached. I pointed him to my superior when asked for the person-in-charge. He spoke in flawless English with a sweet and polite manner. Since he’s carrying a small book, then he must be asking for donation. So I thought.

After all the greetings and hand-shake, my kind-hearted superior was ready to hear what this guy is up to. Suddenly, this guy started to blurt about what my superior’s feature reflected, even asked for a look at his palm! Kasian my superior, he was all puzzled and confused. Only then that the guy reveal his true self. “ I am a fortune-teller. A
palmist. Would you like me to read your fortune Sir? “ Ceh!! If only he’d said that earlier, no confusion will arise… :) . But then again, maybe this was part of his tactic. If he had reveal his real intention earlier, he’ll probably be shown the exit ...hahaha.

When his offer was refused, he quickly comes towards me. “ Its okay, Sir, I don’t want my palm to be read. Thank you. *smile* ”. Nah ambik kau, another rejection! He doesn’t seem to mind the rejection though. He went off nonchalantly with the same smiling face. Could this guy for real? Or he was simply trying his luck to con ppl ?

Well, I don’t really trust fortune-teller. A few years ago when I was a part-time cashier in Serdang, I’ve had an encounter with a fortune-teller. I refused but a friend accepted his offer. *smile * Me just tumpang sekaki and pasang telinga dingar tilikan si kawan. * wink*

The fortune-teller was an Indian guy, dressed like a sami (monk) with his plain-clothed assistant carrying a book. Said he would read my friend’s palm FOC. If I remembered correctly, his reading was “ You are a very lucky lady.” Friend was beaming, flattered with that comment. We waited for him to elaborate. Instead, the guy asked if friend would like to proceed for another reading. “Of course la. “ (Friend was all excited.) Besides, it doesn’t cost a anything, right?? Err, nope. The guy responded with a sweet smile and said, for the next reading, friend will have to pay for it. “ Give kind-heartedly.” Yeah, that was his exact words. Somehow, I remembered it until now. LOL.

Out of excitement, friend gave him RM1.00. He proceeded. But I don’t remember what his next read was, but I guess it sounded something like “You will soon experience good things in life.” That’s it, no further elaboration. Then came that same smile and the “Give kind-heartedly” line again. Ciss!! FOC la mangkali…Finally, to my relief, friend came to her senses. She denied the offer to proceed. The guys went out and start looking for other customer or shall I say, victim?

Hmmm…I don’t hold any grudge against any fortune-teller. But to come up with such readings, I don’t think we need to be a fortune-teller. I mean, common, its obviously too general. Even I can bluff things like that. Not that I want to con anybody…haha. Say positive things, make the customer/victim happy to make sure the money keep on coming. LOL. Of course, one got to have the nerve to go with it and appear genuine. Ahh, these two things, I lack of. Am not a good liar. :)

In my opinion, whatever God has planned for us, good or bad, should remain a mystery,an enigma. We should take it as they come and accept them as part of our destiny. But that doesn’t mean that we should not make any effort to improve our luck and our lifestyle should any good opportunity crosses our path. * smile*
I’ve read an article somewhere that if we allow our luck to be predicted, then our luck will change after that. It won’t turn-out as predicted. True or not, no one knows for sure. *smile *

P/s: This post was supposed to be a short one, but end-up to be a long and winding post instead! Hope you won’t get bored with my rambling. :)

Is this the sign ??

Went out for lunch today and I did the silliest thing, again…I forgot to bring along the office’s keys. I locked them inside the office. Argghh…what was I thinking. Well, this is the 2nd time I locked in my keys inside. Hmm…is this the sign that I’m getting older? Getting forgetful? Nope not….I’m not that old yet. Am I ? Common, am not even 30 yet…

This time I was lucky again bcos my colleague who is supposed to fly to KL today was still at home. I have to call him and asked him to come with his keys. Luckily, he doesn’t live that far. Worse, what if he was already on the plane. Matai la….Can’t imagine what I’m going to do. Probably knock down the door..you know, like the cops in the TV…Ceh! Bagus kalau kuat kan…!

By the way, my other colleague can’t help either. He was on leave today. He and family were already heading to Labuan via Menumbuk. The 1st incident, he was already on his way to help the other colleague in the installation of new computers in KWSP when I called him. I felt bad and guilty bcos he had to drive all the way back here again..thanks to my carelessness. That time fuel price is still high you know… :(

You guys got any remedy or tips on how to curb this forgetfulness thingy?! Share-share la with me…

Anyway, its weekend again. Have a nice weekend with your loved ones. Me got to attend 2 weddings…wedding season is in town in conjunction with the school holiday. :) Every weekend got invitation.
