Green Police

You are still using plastic bag to load your groceries? If you do, you better look around before you ask the cashier for one because the Audi Green Police may not be too far behind. *smile*

Who exactly are these fearful Audi Green Police? They are a fictional Green Police unit created by Audi, the German manufacturer of exquisite automobiles. The Audi Green Police, as described in their website, are “caricatures of today’s “green movement” and “a humorous group of individuals that have joined forces in an effort to collectively help guide consumers to make the right decision when it comes to the environment”. The Audi Green Police are here to facilitate our decisions-making, helping us to make a smarter and well-informed decision. As Audi says, “They’re not here to judge, merely to guide these decisions.”

Nevertheless, their Green Police commercial which made their television debut during the 4th quarter of the Big Game on 7th February, received different reaction from the viewers. Some find it amusing while others find it offensive. Either way, the ad is definitely memorable. In it ordinary citizens are arrested for using plastic instead of paper, throwing away batteries, not composting orange rinds, possessing incandescent light bulbs and setting their hot tub thermostat too high. That’s how serious those Green Police are.

Now, are there real Green Police in real life? Yes, there are. Numerous of them. In Israel, the main arm of the Ministry of Environmental Protection in the area of enforcement and deterrence is called “Green Police”. New York has officers within the state’s Department of Environmental Conservation that are affectionately called the “Green Police”. The “Green Police” is what Vietnam Environmental Police Department is popularly known as. And in the UK, they have a group who dresses in green as part of the Environment Agency’s squad to monitor excessive CO2 emissions.

Yangon - Part 2

Since the ancient time, Myanmar is famous for its beautiful and precious gemstones- sapphire, jade, citrine, lapis lazuli, ruby etc. These precious stones are perfect for jewelry making. Everyone who has the opportunity to visit the country should grab one or two. The prices are quite low and the quality is excellent. Of course la, hubby bought home souvenir... *wink-wink*

Hehe..he didn’t buy any jewelry whatsoever. Instead, he bought a gemstones painting..err, rather a picture with a soothing scenery. A waterfall with lots of green background. It is made of jade (green), citrine (yellow), sapphire (blue), peridot (pale green), ruby (red), spinel (pink), onyx (black), quartz (white), zircon (brown), amethyst (violet) and fossil wood (orange). The price, USD30. Hmm, a perfect picture for the living room. For the time being, it is still lying on the table, have not frame it yet … hahahaha...This one is really captivating. Oh my, just how many jade did they use to create this?! It is a large picture, so hubby only snap part of it and bcos of the quantity of jade used, time spent to materialize this pic…the price is not cheap, only USD350. *wink * It is so beautiful, don’t you agree?

I’m sure there are other shops selling gemstones picture, but hubby bought it from this particular shop, SHNE Yanadar in Bogyoke Market. Ready-framed pictures are also available but are too bulky to be hand-carried into the plane. Here are some other pictures that are equally fascinating.

Let's go green (2)

Yes, I changed my template again. I was satisfy with the earlier one but it was already used by Joyce. Macam inda berapa siok bah kan kalu guna template yang sama...hehe.

So, I decided to go hunting here again for a new one. As soon as I saw this template, I fell in love with it . I want it so badly...* grin*, never mind la if I need to mekanik on the HTML code. * sigh* I not good at this thingy ya, it took me half a day to adjust the code. Hehe...thank God our server is still out. Plenty of time for me to do some trial and error.

Okay, that's it for today. I had enough of these code. I'll work on it again tomorrow as there are still some items that are out of order.

Let's go green...

Hehe..it was free and easy for me in the office today. Thanks to our faulty server. I spent half of my day browsing the Net.

Hmm...all this while I have been using 2 column template, I got bored. So since I got plenty of time, I went browsing around here for new template. I was spoilt with what they have to offer. Soo many to choose from.

Finally, I decided to go green and choose this one. Frankly, it wasn't my first choice. I was going to get the one with flowers image but there was something about it that I didn't like. So, here it is, my page with a green theme.

Well, I'm still doing some touch-up on it, some item may be not in order. Pardon the flaw ya!

Weekend Part 2

Monday afternoon, as planned earlier, we’re going to the kebun. However, there was a change of venue. Instead of going to the kebun to harvest the palm oil bunches, FIL took us to another one. Seem like this time also no chance for me to see the harvesting process.

I’m quite excited though, as I’ve never been to this particular kebun before. It was also hubby first visit since his teenage years. He and a few of his friends used to follow some uncle on their hunting trip back then. The popular catch was the civet cats. This kebun is quite far from my in-laws house and from Keningau Town. We passed thru a few kampung and other people’s kebun. At the interior part, only a few houses or pondok can be seen. There was also no electricity. The road was gravel and bumpy at some stretch. But the existing condition is far better than before, as I was told. But it is not advisable to go there during rainy season. In case, car got struck, it is such a long, long walk to the nearest kampung to get help. Hmm…don’t count on your mobile phone, there’s no signal available …

The surrounding was peaceful with nice, green view. Although some adjacent land has been cleared and ready to be planted with palm oil, most of them are still covered with secondary forest. FIL’s piece of land is one of them. There’s a plan to plant it with palm oil, but how soon? Not sure yet. A lot of things need to be taken into consideration eg money, manpower and time.

On the way back, we stopped by a tower on somebody’s land. Hubby wanted to have a better view of the surrounding areas. He didn’t climbed to top though. The structure looked quite old and a bit shaky. Don’t want to take a risk, in case the tower collapsed pulak. Touch wood….

It rained along our way back to KK on Tuesday. There was a landslide in Moyog area. Some trees fell on the roadside. Fortunately, the road was not affected and me had a safe journey. Hmm…like usual, we grabbed some fruit and vege back to KK. This time it’s gourd/labu, pumpkin and the 'giant' papaya. So, that’s all about my long weekend.
